MAC’s new colour collection, Surf Baby, goes on counter this week.

Inspired by the surf chicks and dudes from the Pacific Coast Highway, this range features several must-have bronzing products, crushed metallic pigment shadows, vibrant liners and pressed shadows and glosses in peachy pinks or mid-tone brown.

It is of course, more suited to the northern hemisphere’s impending summer, but pocket those bronzers now – they’ll be more than handy in a few month’s time when we get to revel in the sun again.

In the meantime, wear the Pigment, $48, in Melon (a soft bright golden peach) as a base under wintery browns. Or, dip a thin brush in water or Studio Fix and line eyes with Naked Pigment, $48, (fleshy beige with golden copper pearl).

The crushed metallic pigments are an exciting addition to any makeup kit. There are two sets of four to choose from – Summer Stash, $80, and Surf the Ocean, $80. All shades are frosted and can be as intense or soft as you like. A wash of light violet or or light yellow green will make eyes shine with a hint of colour.

It’s time to step outside those makeup ruts and give colour a go!
