Today was one of those days where I’m so glad to be doing a job I love (if you could call it a job, which makes it even better).

I had a delicious lunch at the new Mantell’s on the Water hosted by Pandora to launch the new Pandora watch collection, followed by an inspiring 90 minutes of makeup with MAC’s Senior Artist Amber D.

The trend collections are one of my favourite things to do ever. EVER. It always makes me want to be a makeup artist. I love seeing the backstage footage from the international collections and I love hearing about what the artists did to create the looks we come to love or hate in the months after.

There are so many notes in my notebook… so many stories to follow… but one of the biggest trends was a return to matte. See you later glossy, shiney lids and skin. The preference was for a natural base with a light wash of colour over the lids. Red lipstick reigned supreme – be it a bright red, orange red or dark/black/plum red. Find a red that suits you – hunt it out and then keep it. Wear with lashings of mascara, a liner flick and sassy attitude.

Yes, red lipstick can be high maintanence… and apparently MAC have a solution to that, but we’ll have to wait until OCT. ARGH… at least it’ll be here in time for party season!
