90288779-600x400sex-and-the-city2-600x400I finally got to see the movie Sex and the City 2 tonight and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It’s not as fast-paced, witty or poignant as the tv series was; the fashion had some definite hits and misses; and the story line was weak BUT it was still a visual feast, still generated a few good chuckles and is a thoroughly entertaining film to see.

I still preferred Carrie’s wardrobe to the others, I don’t much care for Charlotte’s prim style, Samantha’s brash sexiness or Miranda’s modern take on the corporate world (although in this film there were more haute couture gowns than suits which was great). Most skirts were long and whipped around her lithe ankles and even in her older age she hasn’t lost the ability to wear sky-high heels. How she can rock them as if she’s wearing sneakers, I’ll never know. I’m still figuring out how to wear super high heels and work gracefully.

Yes the ‘girls’ are now women in the second halves of their lives – they’re noticeably older and while this is mentioned frequently throughout the film it doesn’t dominate, it’s a natural progression. Of course they’ve all had fabulous work – subtle tweaks with botox and fillers.

I loved Carrie’s hair – she’s gone slightly darker with caramel highlights, it worked well against her tanned skin and made her blue eyes sparkle even more. Her eye makeup throughout was outstanding! I’m dying to find a how-to and will let you know when I have.

As much as I’m a huge fan of the series, I really do think it’s time to call it a day. Movie number 3? Uh, no. Let’s leave it there.

What do you think?
