RAFW Brad Ngata for Gail Sorronda
May 4, 2011

Brad Ngata’s creative direction for Gail Sorronda’s SS11/12 collection came from pared back 90s minimalism, combining two textures to give a kooky dual-phase look to the models. Front-on the look appears dry, chalky and austere, which then changes to a sleek, glossy minimalism when they turn.
Achieve the Look
- Prepare the hair using Brad’s double-moussing technique; applying mousse, blasting the hair completely dry and repeating – this gives the hair extra volume and lift
- Using this technique, layer L’Oréal Professionnel Techni.art Full Volume Extra mousse through the roots to mid lengths, leaving the ends free of any product
- Run straightening irons over the mid lengths to ends to smooth the bottom section
- Part in the middle, pulling hair over the ears and securing with oversized bobby pins at the temples and just behind the ears
- Backcomb through the back to create more lift and a dry, airy texture
- Use elastic to tie the hair back and around the neck to separate both textures
- Apply a little L’Oréal Professionnel Techni.art Crystal Gloss through hair that is left out to create a smooth and glossy look
