RAFW Brad Ngata for Gail Sorronda

Brad Ngata’s creative direction for Gail Sorronda’s SS11/12 collection came from pared back 90s minimalism, combining two textures to give a kooky dual-phase look to the models. Front-on the look appears dry, chalky and austere, which then changes to a sleek, glossy minimalism when they turn.

Achieve the Look

  1. Prepare the hair using Brad’s double-moussing technique; applying mousse, blasting the hair completely dry and repeating – this gives the hair extra volume and lift
  2. Using this technique, layer L’Oréal Professionnel Techni.art Full Volume Extra mousse through the roots to mid lengths, leaving the ends free of any product
  3. Run straightening irons over the mid lengths to ends to smooth the bottom section
  4. Part in the middle, pulling hair over the ears and securing with oversized bobby pins at the temples and just behind the ears
  5. Backcomb through the back to create more lift and a dry, airy texture
  6. Use elastic to tie the hair back and around the neck to separate both textures
  7. Apply a little L’Oréal Professionnel Techni.art Crystal Gloss through hair that is left out to create a smooth and glossy look
