A classic update

You can’t beat a classic. I recall this little brown bottle with the old fashioned apothecary dropper sitting on both my mother and grandmother’s dressing tables amongst all their other wonderful (and out of reach) beauty products.

Estee Lauder first launched the Advanced Night Repair (ANR) in 1982 when it was one of the first skin serums to hit the market.

Now the formula has been updated. It has Chronolux Technology, an exclusive finding by Estee Lauder’s scientists that aids and abets the synchronization of the skin’s repair mechanisms. Which means it helps it repair itself. Naturally. Which is good because the modern world has modern ailments that are troublesome for skin, most of them brought on by pollution and stress.

Estee Lauder’s scientists, the men in white coats, found a new type of damage occuring within our skin cells called Alkylation Damage, which is caused by toxins and chemicals. If this isn’t fixed by a zippy little repair enzyme called the Alkyl Guanine Transferase (AGT) quickly enough the damage can become permanent. Which is bad in a really big way because this will make our skin age faster.

Cue the Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex – it has all the things we need to solve Alkylation Damage. It helps that poor overworked repair enzyme AGT clean up the damaging effects of Alkylation before it becomes permanent. It helps get rid of existing damage like sunspots and it also helps prevent future damage. It promises that when used every night for a significant amount of time (like a month or two at least), you will see a reduction in the visible signs of aging – fine lines, dehydration and discoloration.

Basically it’s full of powerful stuff – the Chronolux Technology is a scientifically engineered amino acid – there’s also hyaluronic acid, peptides and enzymes… all the goodies your skin needs to remove the signs of aging while you dream about a holiday on a white sand beach. Perfect. Love it when I’m working while sleeping.

Have I used this? Of course! And yes, I noticed an improvement in fine lines. My skin (which sometimes struggles to come to life because of my inability to always secure a solid eight hours a night), looks fresh and dewy. I loved the ritual of dropping it on my forehead, cheeks and chin and then massaging it into my face. A little goes a long way, so while the price is up there – $126 for 30ml or $176 for 50ml – I’ve been using it a month and still got heaps to go.

ANR hits the counters on September 7.
