All that Glitters

It’s party season – time to get festive and celebrate.

One of my favourite party looks is golden, literally. Try adding gold shadow to eyes, be heavy handed and do a gold-inspired smokey eye or just add a slick of liner across the top lid. Add a few gold accessories and you’re set.

The Body Shop, The Sparkler All Over Shimmer in Enchanting Gold, $49.95, has to be one of my favourite new accessories. I applied it to a friend’s decolletage, arms and hair last week when I did her makeup for a wedding. You can spray it liberally and won’t look like a disco ball. In fact, you HAVE to apply it liberally. This comes out in a fine mist and is a powder product, which I find preferable to a lot of the liquid shimmers which can be a pain to blend in smoothly. Don’t worry about looking like you’ve raided your little sister’s glimmer drawer – these micro-fine specks are small enough to be discreet but big enough to emit the prettiest shine when the light catches them. I’d also apply to legs when wearing a mini.
