lanolips-intense-hand-creamHands up who’s got dry, crepey-skinned hands?

Ah ha… yip… we all do. In fact, my skin is so dry its frightening. Like white lines, GROSS looking. They look like the parched land of a desert. They look old. Disturbing. Yes, it really bothers me.

I’m not a big fan of handcream – it gets in my rings, makes the steering wheel slippery and sometimes they can be more trouble than they’re worth, requiring frequent applications. Which is why I really like Lanolips Rose Balm Intense, $15.99, from adorebeauty.com.

Yes it’s thick. Yes it feels like a glove. Yes, that makes it almost off putting. But somehow, it doesn’t stay thick and tacky and somehow an hour later your skin still looks supple and tender, as if it’s just been applied. A HUGE bonus in this cold winter.

I applied it to the hands of three willing participants – one a male and they all liked it. Yes, even the bloke.

Based on the lipglosses, Lanolips has Medical Grade Lanolin, which is pretty much the only humectant worth bothering with. It’s also got shea butter, wheat germ oil, cocoa seed butter and a few essential oils most notably Rose. So it smells really nice. And feels silky.

It’s like a hand treatment – it seems to really linger and is really good for cracked heels as well. Having said that – I’ve got dry hands but not super dry and I really like it. I appreciate its hydrating qualities. Some might find it too much… but overall what most impresses me is that the hydration lasts, it seems to keep working minute after minute. And that’s what a good handcream should be all about.
