Beauty Editors were treated to a quick cooking lesson at Main Event a couple of weeks ago. The lesson? Oh, only a souffle. You know – one of the hardest desserts to whip up.
We did cheat – we had the first part… the egg beating part… done for us. Phew. I wasn’t ready to fully show my crap cooking skills. I can do savoury dishes – I make a mean curry, risotto and roast. But anything that involves bakin
g or sugar… and I’m out. My cookies often run into one big, fat slab on the tray and I’ve been known to exclude vital ingredients from cake mixtures (like flour).
Yet, despite all my handicaps in the kitchen, it turns out that we (me and Amy from Woman’s Day), made really impressive souffles. Big, fluffy, beautiful ones. I am tempted to brag that they were the best but I think I might get a nail file stabbed in my back at the next beauty launch so I won’t. They were just, bloody brilliant!
Of course there was a point to this whole exercise. It wasn’t done in vain (Ha! Great pun there). We were there because L’Oreal Paris have just released a ‘light as a souffle’ foundation called Matte Morphose (out mid June for $41.99).
It’s actually a genius product. It looks like chocolate mousse and slides over skin very easily. Use either your fingers or a brush and blend it in. It won’t streak and smooths away leaving no tell-tale tide marks.
As the name suggests, this product is AWESOME for people with oily skin because it absorbs oil and dries to a matte finish. At first I thought, hey… this could look a bit cakey. But it doesn’t. I took full advantage of makeup artist Lisa Matson being there and got her to find my shade for me. I’ve been wearing it since! I LOVE a beauty bargain.
This is a great foundation for those who want coverage and I must hasten to add that unlike other matte foundations this doesn’t settle into lines. I suspect it has a bit of silicone or something in it, which is all good with me since it gives me a silky smooth finish. No crepey lines! None. Love that.
So glossies… mark this in your calendar and diaries please. L’Oreal Paris Matte Morphose out in June.
You won’t miss the advertising – it features one of my celeb-crushes, Diane Kruger.
