SPRING FEVER REVIVAL

ysls09200x300

While the Northern Hemisphere readies itself for spring, we in the increasingly chilly South are reluctantly pulling out the winter woolies. But does the approach of colder weather automatically mean it’s time to limit your make-up palette to suitably winteresque shades like chocolate and plum? Not necessarily – why not turn seasonal ‘rules’ upside down and take advantage of newly launched spring lines from the other side of the world?

Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring Look 2009 will be sure to have you thinking warm thoughts again with new extreme shine Gloss Pur shades like Pure Raspberry and Pure Fuchsia. For nails try the innovative Nail Touch in Tender Pink Touch or Coral Touch, $59, which comes packaged in a slim line pen for easy application. The Palette D’Artiste Collector Powder for the Eyes, $107, contains trendy but surprisingly wearable shades – try applying pale yellow, tender pink or grey green on the eyelids with a hint of deep purple along the lash line. And the final word has to go to the Easy Liner for Eyes in Easy Brown or Easy Blue, $61. This liner is foolproof, the super fine tip allows you to place a thin stroke for a subtle line or build a thicker line for a sex kitten cat eye – perfection every time, we love it!

Bobbi Brown

With 35 soft matte shades to play with this Collector’s Edition palette from Bobbi Brown, $155, is a dream for any beauty aficionado. Inspired by the “fun kit” used by Bobbi herself backstage at Fashion Week, it features gorgeous brights like Sherbet, Flamingo and Periwinkle. Bobbi’s new Creamy Lip Colour, $52, comes in four fresh shades of Retro Pink, Rose Brown, Coral Pink and Pale Mauve – you’ll love the velvety soft texture.
