theREVIEW Maybelline Baby Lips
There’s nothing worse than cracked lips, at the extreme it can be painful and uncomfortable, at the very least it’s unsightly.
We all know what causes it – skin on lips is thinner and has less natural oils so is more prone to drying out in the cold. Add to this the fact that during winter we like to sit in hot environments indoors (with moisture sapping heaters) and then race outdoors to a crisp, chilly air. Moisture be gone – lips crack. It can happen over night. In fact, I swear I could feel my lips drying out as I sat up writing the other night.
This is when you need lip balms scattered around in the car, house, at your desk, in your bag – as many places as possible so you can give those peckers a quick fix. Because you can be sure that when you really need it… you won’t be able to find a balm anywhere. Which is where these Maybelline Baby Lips SPF 20 Lip Balms come in really handy. Firstly, they’re a steal for just $4.29; secondly, they come in four fun flavours: Energizing Orange, Smoothing Cherry, Menthol and Anti-Oxidant Berry. One for each mood. They all contain Shea Butter and a vitamin complex delivering powerful anti-oxidants PLUS they promise to keep lips moisturised for 8 hours.
We asked our Gossie Girls to try and review this lip-smacking product and here’s what they thought…

I’m pretty well behaved when it comes to using sunscreen, applying it each morning before I put on my foundation…but I always forget my lips. So it was the SPF20 on the packaging of Maybelline’s Baby Lips that first caught my attention. What a genius idea – including sun protection in lip balm that women like me would apply regularly throughout the day without a moment’s thought.
That said, I thought I’d be able to taste the SPF, but I needn’t have worried. There’s a slight scent of it, but nothing unpleasant. Speaking of which, the “smoothing cherry” flavour is nice and subtle and not too overpowering.
Often I apply lip-balm before I go to bed in the evening so my lips are soft and primed for the next day (ready for my lipstick). Baby Lips is probably less suited to this – in fact I found it had dried out my lips a little by the morning, which could be due to the SPF. But re-applying it during the day I found I didn’t have this problem – as long as I did so regularly.
Last of all, it’s worth mentioning the cute packaging. I’m sure the bright candy colours and bold felt-tip letters would stand out a mile on a chemist shelf. For the ‘wrapping’ and SPF above all else, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try to keep your lips soft during the day and shielded from the sun.
10/10
I was pleased to have this great lip conditioner when I got a cold last week as it helped so much in keeping my lips super moist and soft. I had already been using it every day for 1 week before hand and noticed the difference after about day two.
It is in a great small compact twist tube easy to pop into your jeans pocket to have whenever you need it I also found it did not melt or soften like other lip balms can do after sitting in your pocket for a long time this is a great bonus in my view as I was going thru many sticks of balm by just popping them in my pocket and them melting.
This has made my lips so smooth and velvety feeling and I no longer suffer from dry lips in the morning when I wake as I put this on just before sleep and it last all night.
Overall this is a great product and I will be buying this range from now on as it has ticked all the boxes for me.:)
I absolutely love this product! I’m a lip balm addict and always have to have something for my lips but usually have one on the go and can never find it!
I kept this little nifty tube beside my bed and put it on during the day and at night when I went to bed and my lips are in great shape – not like the rest of my body! ha ha.
I would highly recommend babylips and am going to carry on buying this product because it ticks all the boxes for what you need a lipbalm for and I think it delivers what it promises.
There is nothing worse than dry, cracked, winter lips…. Painful and un-kissable! Being a lip balm addict, I was excited to try Maybelline’s Baby Lips SPF 20 Lip Balm in Menthol. I usually have a few lip balms on the go, stashed in my bag, the car, desk at work, and need generally lose them all within a week or so! The cute, bright packaging of the Maybelline Baby Lips made it easy to find (but for some reason every time I saw it, Justin Beiber’s Baby song would go through my head! Not being a fan of the Beibs, I found this rather irritating)
The balm itself is great, I tried the menthol flavour, which smells delicious! The menthol gave a nice tingle to my lips, and left them feeling hydrated and smooth. And while he’ll probably kill me for sharing this, my husband loved it too! He had a cold and developed sore cracked lips, and despite having an aversion to sharing, I let him try this. Within a matter of days, his lips were back to normal, not a hint of dryness.
I’m looking forward to summer knowing that I’ve got a balm with SPF 20 and can’t wait to try the other flavours (not to be shared with Husband!).

Wow looks great.
