theREVIEW Wella Pro Series

When it comes to shampoo and conditioner I’ve always been a bit of a snob believing that only products bought from my hairdresser would suffice. Even when I was at varsity I’d fork out $70 a month on a premium brand. I was that convinced that my hair was so unmanageable and nothing else could tame it.
Of course over the years I have strayed from that original first hair-love. I now have a few brands that I love to rotate. But my fussiness hasn’t abated, until now, I hadn’t cared much for supermarket brands thinking them inferior and full of silicone. I wish I’d tried them earlier – I could have saved myself a fortune!
Lately I’ve been using the new Wella Pro Series Repair Shampoo & Conditioner, which comes in a handy 750ml pump dispenser (just like they use at a salon!). It’s great, truly great. My colour hasn’t gone weird and the other day I actually left my hair to air dry (not on one of those cold, snowy days) and it didn’t go out of control frizzy. As I shampoo, I feel like I am getting a good clean, without stripping natural oils or colour; and then I get a fantastic condition, leaving my hair soft and silky. It’s easy to brush and easy to style. I don’t know why I thought I’d end up with hair tangled in knots (possibly because 10-years that is what had happened but of course the technology of shampoo and conditioner has gone ahead massively since then).
Wella is a brand synonymous with great in-salon colour and products and now they’ve made them more accessible by offering the Pro Series range in supermarkets. It’s a great move: I’ll be using the money I save to get more frequent blow outs!
And it turns out I’m not the only fan – Wella has been sponsoring the girls in the New Zealand Next Top Model house by supplying them with product.
