Wild Bluebell by Jo Malone
There’s something about this new fragrance from Jo Malone that makes me yearn for the countryside, it’s kind of sweet and nice and incredibly fresh without being overpowering or heady. It makes me want to romp across fields or have a delightful picnic on a tartan rug. Maybe it’s the stunning visuals that evoke a fairytale photographed by one of my favourite photographers Tim Walker, who frequently shoots for British Vogue. It’s just so decidedly British, which I owe half my heritage to thanks to my half-English, half-Welsh Father. I also spent the first five years of my life in England before we returned to Mother’s homeland, New Zealand.
Wild Bluebell is a light floral created by Master Perfumier Christine Nagel, who has worked with the company since 2009. It has top notes of Bluebell, Clove, Orange Flower and Lemon that deepen into Persimmon, Eglantine, Jasmine and Lily of the Valley before settling into Musk and Amber base notes. It is perfectly suited to Spring – the English Bluebell carpets the British woodlands at this time creating a gorgeous blueish, purple hue. Unfortunately this flower is under threat and to help preserve its future Jo Malone has made a donation to the Woodland Trust.
We may be many miles from the British Woodlands but we can indulge in a Springtime floral fantasy with cologne and ancillaries:
Wild Bluebell 30ml cologne, $110; 100ml cologne, $215; Body and Hand Wash 250ml, $100; Body Creme, $160; and home candle 200g, $130.
Undoubtably a delightful treat for yourself or the perfect gift for someone. In New Zealand you can buy from the Britomart Boutique (09) 309 4418 or phone 0800 JMOSHOP.
Enjoy! What’s your favourite Jo Malone Fragrance and have you given this one a go?
