Yellow Nails
Usually yellow nails conjures up images of foul fungal infections yet for some reason this summer we are being encouraged to go sunshine-hued on our fingers and toes.
Chanel’s newest makeup collection, Fleurs D’Ete includes this sunny colour – Mimosa. Quite frankly it looks best in the bottle.
It’s a hard colour to paint on – the first coat was streaky, the second is better. I think a third would be a good resolution but I’m not planning on keeping it on long enough. The delightful flecks of sparkle stand out, making the overall appearance rough and bobbly.
Mimosa would suit someone with a dark or olive complexion.
I want to like yellow nail varnish but I just can’t get my head around it. Perhaps it would suit someone youthful. What do you think Gossie girls? Yay or nay?
Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in 577 Mimosa is $42.

I quite like yellow nails, and I love the look of Mimosa, but having read so much about its terrible application I think I’ll pass. I know that yellow is one of the polish colours that almost always has tricky application, but seriously, Chanel, we expect so much better from you at that price. There are plenty of yellows out there for much cheaper, and some of them even have quite good application.
