simply sodashi

There are some beauty products that are a treat to use and some that aren’t, but you use them anyway because they are pumped full with A, B and C and promise to eliminate wrinkles/pigmentation or any other skin skirmish. My cabinet is made up with both and I frequently flit between the clinical and active and the organic and aromatherapy.
Maybe it’s because I have been recovering from an operation, maybe it’s because it’s that time of year when you naturally feel like you need to slow down, but lately I’ve found myself reaching more and more for the products that remind me of a treatment in a day spa. Like my Living Nature Radiance Night Oil – that helps me sleep peacefully at night while hydrating my skin. Or the Trilogy Rosehip Oil I’ve been applying to assist healing with my scars. I’ve also got a custom blend Arnica Oil from Keith Harvey to help aid the internal bruising. All of these feel so good to apply because they are good. They are natural, in some cases organic and they have a wonderful aroma about them.
I’ve also been using Sodashi. Every night when I cleanse my face with Rejuvenating Clay Cleanser with Lavender, $AU80.70, I feel like I could be back at Keely Watson’s where I had the most blissful facial ever. So blissful that I momentarily fell into a deep sleep, when I left I felt like I’d had a body massage as well as a facial – I felt that rejuvenated. I also had amazingly clear skin (Keely uses Sodashi).
Sodashi is relatively new to New Zealand but it’s been in Australia since 1999. Founded by Megan Larsen and produced at their factory in Fremantle, Western Australia, the products use a combination of biochemistry, aromatherapy and Ayurvedic principles. All ingredients are natural and plant based, there doesn’t even appear to be a synthetic preservative like phenoxyethanol which is often favoured by natural or organic brands.
The packaging is beautiful – black glass pump bottles with white writing. Sodashi is a sanskrit word meaning wholeness, purity and radiance.
But despite all of that – the packaging, the words the company says about itself, the proof HAS to be in the pudding – or, in this case, the proof is in the products and this particular one has been a pleasure to use. It comes out in a white (from the Kaolin clay), almost creamy consistency and while you mop it up with a muslin or facecloth it takes away all makeup and dirt. I’ve been finishing it with the Rejuvenating Serum, $AU106.50, and applying it while my face is still damp to soak it all in.
There are many products in the range, including mens, for both face and body. Plus there are some special oils to rebalance the chakras.
My suggestion would be to find a beauty therapist who uses Sodashi, book in for a treatment and then take some product home with you so you can relive the experience at home – mid week, mid day, mid whenever! Whenever you need that little escape, that moment to just take a few deep breaths in, massage your face and body and reconnect. Yes life is so busy. But life is also so short. And it took getting sick for me to really appreciate good health. Taking care of myself, living life a bit slower, being healthy and happy – that’s the most important thing. And there’s nothing like gleaning a bit of happiness from one of life’s simplest pleasures. Like washing your face.
