Walk for Water

logoHere’s a scary thought – in the future we won’t be at war over fossil fuels but for clean water.

For years we’ve taken water for granted (like air) and polluted the shit out of it. Literally. Most first world countries like to think that they’re sweet but the reality is that we’re not. Hello drought in Northland, Auckland and Waikato.

Still, we’re better off than over 2 billion people who live in the African continent and walk miles for clean water. According to UNICEF, six kilometers represents the average distance that women have to walk daily to collect clean water. So beauty brand AVEDA has taken the plight and is hosting 6km walks in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth to raise money for Global Greengrants Funds, which supports grassroots efforts to preserve clean water and protect the environment in more than 100 countries worldwide.

The walks are happening worldwide but in Australia you should join celebrities: Sami Lukis, Samantha Tolj, Georgina Lewis, Georgia Sinclair and Emily-Jade O’Keefe and walk for water.
