Winter Escape

It was a particularly blustery day when I staggered into East Day Spa for my Winter Journey treatment package and I was also rather sleep deprived thanks to an unwell daughter the night before. It was a day when I really needed a bit of pampering.

East Day Spa is a little Balinese haven in the middle of the city. Nestled under Sky City Grand on Albert St it is remarkably warm, cosy and quiet.

On arrival you are ushered into a pre-treatment room that is like a little cocoon. Here, the day’s stresses melt away while you wait and sip a herbal tea.

My treatment has been carefully created by East Day Spa and is only available for a limited time (from now until July 31). This perfectly packaged treatment incorporates the whole body with massage and facial.

A warm, welcoming foot treatment (15 minutes), complete with a hot towel cleanse and a luscious cocoa butter massage begins the journey, think of it like a luxury train trip – gentle, rocking and divine.

Then, a blissful hot stone back massage (30 minutes) melts away tension and relaxes tired muscles. Hot stone massages are amazing. At first I nearly winced from the heat (I’m a bit of a wimp) but then I relaxed and as soon as I did I felt the knots in my shoulders get worked away. The ultimate benefit of hot stones is that the heat penetrates deeper and encourages the muscles to relax quicker allowing therapists to work deeper.

By this stage I was nearly asleep when I was asked to roll onto my back for my Elemis taster facial. During which, I did fall asleep. My therapist, Kathleen, chose the anti-ageing Elemis range to help hydrate and rejuvenate my skin.

I walked out feeling light as air, with a glowing complexion and fluid-feeling limbs.
