Beauty Spot: Erika Takacs
Gorgeous Erika Takacs first burst onto our screens as part of pop group True Bliss where she demonstrated vocal finesse and a savvy sense of style. While she hasn’t sung much lately, she certainly did for a long time and says that one day she will when the time permits. She’s worked as presenter for VideoEzy, the Coke Countdown and Family Health Diaries. Now, she works with her husband – renowned Stunt Co-ordinator Allan Poppleton and has travelled to Croatia (Narnia), South America (Narnia again) and Australia to work on films alongside him. Their daughter Scarlett has just turned Two and she’s due with their second in August. She reveals her beauty bag must-haves…
What’s your usual daily makeup routine?
Well… when I’m making an effort – cleanse, moisturize with Environ, YSL Radiant Touch (this is a magic little pen I can’t live without), MAC Mineralize Powder as my foundation because it’s really light but gives me that little bit of coverage to even out my skin tone, Dr Haushka Bronzer for my cheeks. I curl my eyelashes and then apply L’Oreal XXL waterproof mascara. Then a bit of MAC matte lipstick and a little gloss. Phew!
Does it take you long to get ready? About 5-10 mins, I’ve got it down pat ask my husband.
What would you do if you had more time to get ready? Probably work a little more on my eyes, but then I work with guys and they don’t exactly appreciate the effort, so easy/ natural is the way to go for me.
What’s your favourite evening look right now? Do you wear this yourself? Why/why not? I love both the ‘Red Lips, Heavy Mascara and no cheeks look’ and the ‘Smokey Eyed, Nude lips’ looks. I haven’t found the right red lipstick for me yet so I go with the latter. I don’t think you can go wrong with smokey eyes.
Are you an eyes or lips girl? Eyes – for sure. Eyes once they’re done, are done. The odd bathroom check to smooth out any smears and touch up the eyeliner and you can go all night!
Favourite nail polish colour? Oooh, too many! I’m that girl who goes out to buy a new polish only to bring it home and realize I have 5 other polishes in a similar shade! Dark or bright on the toes and OPI Red on my hands is usually the way I go.
Long nails? Or short? Absolutely SHORT! The 80′s days of long talons are over. Oh and I wont go near a French mani/pedi either.
What’s the one beauty product you’ve used for years and can’t give up? Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. Lip Balm, nail cream, moisturizer – brilliant!
Which fragrance/s are you wearing and why? I have three favourites at the moment. Viktor & Rolf – Flowerbomb, (divine! And reminds me of walking into Karen Walker) Marc Jacobs – Lola (quite heady and lasts the distance), YSL – Parisianne (I think part of every girl wants to feel lost in Paris like the ever gorgeous Kate Moss).
What beauty faux pas are you always committing – even though you know you shouldn’t? The worst! Going to bed with my makeup on. Terrible, terrible habit.
Best beauty advice you’ve ever read/heard? Like a lot of things in life – less is more.
If you could turn back time, which hair/makeup disaster would you avoid making? It would have to be Truebliss days and rhinestone gems stuck to ones forehead. I don’t know what I was thinking…
What advice would you tell the younger you? Cleanse, wear sunblock and keep your face out of the sun, invest in facials and quality skin care products. You only have the skin you live in once.
