Kate Sylvester
One of my favourite collections, this combined clothes suited to ladies who lunch but who also hangs with the artisans down on K’Rd. It was inspired by Judith ‘Black Lips’ Baragwanath who straddled both worlds – she lived in posh Remuera where her friends were scandalized by her punk boyfriend. She wore black lipstick.
So it’s not surprising that each model wore black lipstick – a look that is incredibly hot right now and that you can emulate yourself by popping down to M.A.C and adding the lipstick or gloss from their Style Black collection to your makeup bag. With the focus on the lips, the rest of the face was kept fairly neutral on face they used Face and Body foundation with Mineralize powder to give skin that glow. Cheeks were dusted with Peachtwist Blush. Eyes were simple – Soba Eyeshadow blended around eyes with Nylon lining the inner corner. On lips, Midnight Media and Smoulder. The look was designed by Shirley Simpson for M.A.C.
Lucy Marr from Stephen Marr designed the hair look which was scraped back and dewey, mimicking the look of morning hair that still carries the residue of the night before. To get this look use Sebastian Matte Paste and Taming elixir in the palm of your hand and rake your fingers through your hair. Secure it with a couple of tortoise shell slides low at the back and finish off with a generous spray of Sebastian Halo Mist shine spray all through the ends.
