NYFW Proenza Schouler

00150mThere’s something to be said for a bold lip in winter… of all the trends to emerge from New York (and I anticipate this will continue at London Fashion Week) the juicy plum/red lip is above and beyond my favourite.

Seen here at Proenza Schouler the whole look is gorgeous and just so damn wearable. And it would suit blondes and brunettes alike.

Keyed by Diane Kendal the emphasis is glowing skin and kapow lips. She said, ‘The look is early 90s grunge – fresh moisturized face and a statement lip.’

Here’s how she did it:

On eyes she started with Cream Colour Base in MAC Pro Dark Brown – applied UNDER the eye, into the crease of the eyelid and at the top of the lashline BLENDED with a MAC 252 brush. Gloss texture was dabbed onto lids.

Dewy skin was created with Studio Finish Concealor applied where needed and blot powder used to set foundation and give skin a matte finish. To contour the cheeks she applied Studio Finish Concealor (NC50 but you’ll need to find the appropriate contouring colour to suit your skintone) to the cheekbones with a MAC 190 brush.

The most important feature – LIPS were a clever mix of Lipstick in Charred Red and Eye Shadow in Carbon (this is black so you’ll need to practise the amounts of both to get the colour right). Blended together and applied with the most intensity in the centre of the lip.

What do you think of this?
