Skin Saviours

One of the worst things about flying is the dehydrating effect it has on skin – arriving feeling like a shrivelled up prune is never fun, especially when you want to hit the ground running.

Despite advising readers to always pack hydrating moisturisers for flights, I have often not followed my own advice, I can be a bit forgetful when it comes to packing. This time I wasn’t. I finally remembered to take a hydrating mask and cleansing wipes. Which totally saved my face. After dinner and a movie (The Kids Are Alright – very good!), I went to the bathroom and removed the day’s makeup with Garnier Clean Sensitive cleansing wipes. I like these because they are not stingy – some others have just a bit too much fragrance and can make my face sing with redness. These also got rid of my mascara, genius. Because I haven’t yet, found a small sized eyemakeup remover that’s not going to throw airport security into a tizzy.

Back at my seat, I removed one half of the Shiseido Revital Lifting Mask to apply to my face. It actually comes in two parts – one for the upper half of your face and the other for the lower half. Since one half managed to cover pretty much my entire face, I used just that. This is literally dripping in serum, so I massaged it around and spread it everywhere. There was enough for the back of my hands too. I sat back for 10-15minutes and let the goodness soak in.

After battling with the person a seat away over who got the extra room via the spare seat between us, I did fall asleep. I’d like to think I got 4-5 hours but I’m not sure. I don’t think it was a true, deep sleep but it was enough to do the trick. When I woke I set about my morning routine – washing my face with the cleansing wipes and I applied the mask again.

This made a total difference to how my skin felt that day. I didn’t have any tightness or dryness. It felt soft, dewy and good. Even my sister-in-law commented on how fresh I looked when I arrived.

The dumb thing is that I forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste and that would have REALLY made a difference. Rats. Thankfully I had chewing gum!

What do you take on flights to help you get through it?

Tamsin xoxo
