The Shaggy-bob

Once every six months I get restless with my hair and decide I want to do something with it. Note last year I went for quite a dramatic dip-dye (or balyage as it is technically called) turning my blonde hair into brunette at the roots and golden tips.
It was great during winter but for summer I wanted to be blonde again.
Now I am considering a different cut – something a bit more rock n roll with a bit of an edge but also something that won’t be too hard to grow out. A cut like Freja Beha Erichsen – every time I look at a photo of her or Anja Rubik I am so tempted to get it cut! The only thing that stops me is the fringe… can I be bothered? Fringes can be such hard work and I’ve only just grown mine out again.
I asked stylist Lauren Gunn at Ponsonby’s Stephen Marr what she thought of the look and she agreed that it’s great.
“Freja is among a group of rare models that come along every once and awhile, who have the ability to inspire a shift in style and attitude from designer collections to the street,” she explained.
“It’s a style to revive tired, curly hair. Working with its cool, natural tousled texture and chopped off blunt at the collarbone with a messy fringe, it’s a look that can be tailoured for any face shape.”
Styling is easy, especially if your hair has a bit of kink to it. “Take two handfuls of mousse and work them into your hair evenly from roots to ends then dry with a diffuser end into fat, shiny curls. You can also let your hair dry naturally if you’re short on time,” says Lauren. “Pump up the volume by sliding your fingers into your hair and giving it a tousle at the roots.”
It works best when it’s messy, which makes it the PERFECT style for those with curls.
What do you think? Do you like it?
