The Top Knot
First the top knot was a messy bun, with textured hair and wispy side bits. It was the perfect solution to a bad hair day – just pull it up, wrap it around – the messier the better. A great un-done look that became the cool, IT-girl style of choice.
Gradually the knot worked it’s way forward. Now, it’s best placed high on top of the head. Like a fruit bowl.
Another alternative is to wear it with slick hair, loads of spray and a tight twirl. Sleek and shiny.
From catwalk – to celebrity. It’s clearly time to move on.
But, if you’re not ready yet – or still want the top-knot option for bad hair days use these two formulas from celebrity stylist David Babaii.
For the sleek top-knot, apply David Babaii Hair Polish, $26.50, into the palms of your hands and distribute well through hair. Comb hair into a neat high ponytail and tie with a har band. Twirl the ponytail around itself into a ballerina bun and pin to place. To finish add more Hair Polish.
For the dishellved version liberally spray freshly shampooed hair with Bohemian Beach spray, $23.70, then roughly dy hair to leave it bouncy and textured (ie frizzy). This particular product works on wet or dry hair. Then pull hair into a ponytail but don’t pull completely through – leave part of it in so it’s shaped like a bun and then pin where needed to finish.
The David Babaii for WildAid range is as natural as can be and is available in Australia from GNC, Priceline, Price Attack, Selected Terry White Chemists and Health stores. For full details check out www.db4wildaid.com.au or call 1300 387 204.
There’s nothing like a good top-knot to carry you through a too-busy for curling tongs day.
