Zambesi

_mg_7551Greg Murrell continued his long standing relationship with Zambesi by designing the hair for their W09 runway show.

He wanted sleek, graphic looking hair, pulled back off the face with high shine and very little volume. The team from his Ryder Salon used KMS California Flat-Out Hot pressed spray before straightening to get hair as smooth as possible.

_mg_7424The hair was then fastened behind the ears on either side of the head to keep it back – and a sewing technique was used to keep this as flat as possible (watch the video to see how this is done).

_mg_7581The remaining hair on top of the head is pulled back off the face to occipital bone at the back of the head, twisted into a plait and sewn into place.

To finish and to amplify the shine, hair is sprayed liberally with KMS California Silk-Sheen Gloss Spray.

_mg_7541Amber D from M.A.C designed the makeup and when I went to interview her she was as calm as anything backstage – such a pro!

She wanted gorgeous looking skin so used Studio Sculpt Foundation, lightly applied and set with Mineralize Skin Finish Natural – for ‘ultra natural skin’.

On eyes she used Nude Cream Colour Base over the eyelid and up to brows. To create a dark shadow under the eye (only on a catwalk would you want this) she used Black Chromaline blurred under the eyes.

Lips were kept minimal with nude cream colour base and lip conditioner.

She wrote that her inspiration was a dark brooding girls – shadowy eyes but beautiful skin. The collection was very tailoured with a slight Russian theme. Like all Zambesi shows this was well executed (still my favourite so far) with a tinge of darkness to it. On stage the hair and makeup looked amazing – minimal but very clever.
