Dye it with a Mousse

For those who regularly wage war against regrowth and greys by dyeing hair at home – help is at hand.

L’Oreal Paris have just released their new Sublime Mousse by Casting, $16.99. It’s an at home hair dye kit with a twist – the formula is a mousse and is applied just as easily as shampooing your hair. Seriously, that easy.

There’s no need for precision placement – you won’t need sectioning clips or a mirror. There’s less mess, it has a nice fragrance (most users remark on the lack of ammonia smell) and it is really easy to do. It takes 30 minutes.

You simply combine the bottle of Liquid-to-Mousse colourant with the Liquid-to-Mousse Developer in the provided Foaming Pump bottle. Gently rotate from side to side (avoid shaking). The mousse will form when first pumped into your hand.

From here you just smooth over DRY HAIR, massaging in with your fingers from root to tip – exactly as you would when you shampoo and condition your hair. Start with the roots (and where greys are) and massage down the lengths of your hair.

Because this product is a mousse, it won’t run down the side of your face.

There is plenty of formula for those with long hair. Keep massaging the mousse into your hair until it is completely covered. Then let it develop for 30 minutes.

Rinse until the water runs clear then spread the Conditioning Balm through, leaving it on for 2 minutes before doing a final rinse.

I’m too chicken to dye my hair myself… too blonde… I anticipate all sorts of accidents. But my colleague and good friend Justine Hunter is a savvy dye-at-home brunette. I asked her these questions:

(Please note, Justine bought this product to use and will definitely buy again).

1. Was it easy to apply?

I loved that I could apply it to dry hair – it really made such a difference to NOT have to wet my hair first and then try and pull a comb through the tangles that ensue to apply the colour.

2. What made it easier than other home dyes?

Because it goes on dry hair you don’t have to worry about the colour dribbling down your face, you have much more control because it is a mousse.

3. Did it take long to process?

Same time as normal.

4. Were you happy with the end result?

I loved the end result, the colour is perfectly even with great coverage and shine.

5. Does your hair feel like it is in better condition?

Yes it feels healthy and renewed.

So there you have it Gossies, a great way to add colour, shine and lustre to your hair. Do you dye your hair at home? If so, what colour do you use? I might just have a few boxes of this gorgeous new product for you to try!

Tamsin xoxo
