Painless Waxing

Pretty adult girl with perfect legsI’m always a leetle bit dubious of waxing products that promise to be “pain free”. Face it, we’re pulling hair out of its snug follicle, which is surrounded by pain receptors. It’s always going to hurt.

But the Pharo Sugaring system promises “signifcantly less discomfort”. As someone who goes into a Brazilian wax dosed up on Nurofen and brandy, I was very keen to compare. And I was pleasantly surprised.

Pharo is made from all natural ingredients, mainly sugar, aloe vera gel, honey and kiwifruit extract. It smells glorious. It really does rinse off with only warm water. It doesn’t require a super high temperature to apply, which is much better for your skin. It only adheres to the hair, minimising further skin damage. And, total bonus, it’s eco-friendly. With all these advantages, it’s the icing on the cake that it also does what it’s supposed to – remove hair.

My therapist applied the wax, which was much less hot than usual. I sucked in my breath and gripped the sides of the table, waiting for that penny-in-the-swear-jar moment – but it never came. I would say – and I’m not exaggerating – that it hurt at least 70% less than normal wax. The wax came off cleanly. None of that awful, bee-stinging tweezing was necessary (that may have also been the work of my excellent therapist). A couple of hours later the slight redness had gone down, and there was no need to do that cowboy, wide-stance walk you see women doing when they leave a bikini wax. All in all, I was impressed.

Now I know some girls who have excellent pain thresholds, and a friend of mine once fell ASLEEP during a Brazilian. But there are others who are so afraid of waxing, that they just don’t do it. If you are one of these people, find a Pharo stockist, and give it another try.

Waxing gives a lovely result, unlike the itchy prickles of shaving, and the more you do it, the less the hair will grow. Plus you’ll be doing your bit for the environment, and supporting a New Zealand-owned product. To find your nearest Pharo stockist, click on this link http://www.pharosugaring.com/Salon-Near-Me.php or call 09 412 8860.
