Races Special: Fake it!
Well Gossies the races season is upon us- a time of hair dos, beautiful makeup, crazy fascinators and just overall flawlessness! So here at Beauty Goss we’ve put together a week long ‘Races Special’ to act as a guide to help you look your best this races season! But we couldn’t have done it without the knowledge from our panel of talented experts!
Introducing The Down Low’s Amber Peebles who is a regular attendee of these glamorous occasions, Nikki Lovrich who’s a makeup artist and stylist for the stars, Natalie Chan who’s a leading New Zealand designer of stylish, funky fascinators and Mana Dave who is the creative director of Pony Xpress, New Zealand’s first blow wave and style bar in Newmarket!
For the last of our ‘Races Special’ we’re polishing off our race days looks by learning how to get a healthy looking glow to our skin! Nikki has given us her tips and tricks to finding your perfect faux sun-kissed look!

Nikki:
- When it comes to fake tanning I really think it’s a case of trail and error, as all skins react differently to instant tan creams.
- Personally I have had the best luck with L’Oreal and Garnier fake tanners, as I have found they work quickly and don’t leave an orange colour (everyone’s worst nightmare!)
- It’s important to build up a fake tan slowly, so the secret is to exfoliate well first and then apply a good moisturiser- I find this dilutes the product and helps it to blend it in more seamlessly.
- Always keep fake tan away from your neck and face- I hate the look of an orange face (especially eyebrows) as no amount of makeup will conceal this mistake.
- If your face is paler than your body, then match it up with a bronzer or a warmer toned foundation.
- Always be careful around ankles, knees and elbows as these areas will always be first to grab the product.
- Oh, and wash your hands afterward!
