Silky Soft Hair
This is how my day used to begin…
Alarm, snooze, alarm, snooze, jump up and race to the gym, punish self and regret getting out of bed, shower, coffee, face paint and then ‘wrestle with hair’ process that would take anything from 30minutes to 60minutes. I kid you not. It would frustrate the hell out of my husband.
My hair is fine but I have lots of it. It’s also curly – not ringlet curls but curly enough for it to want to expand at the mere sniff of moisture in the air. It was very unforgiving – should I wish to flatten the life out of it (I always did), I’d need to blow dry it as dry as possible first. Otherwise it would still expand and become fluffy. I’d use a multitude of serums and smoothing/straightening creams to help assist in my quest for glossy locks. But sometimes this still wouldn’t help and so I’d give up (in a huff and a puff) and just twist the bloody thing up into a ponytail or topknot.
I had resigned myself to the fact that I’d never have easy hair.
Until… I had the Kerastraight Treatment. Now, I do have easy hair. I have, ‘dry in ten minutes’ hair. I can, (inhale gasp), walk out the door with half wet hair and it won’t expand like a sea monkey!!! I have silky, soft hair that a month after being treated is still silky soft (I’d had another form of this treatment that only lasted for two weeks). I can not rave about this enough. If you have curly, unmanageable hair that takes up heaps of your time to style, consider investing in this.
It’s not super cheap… For long hair it’s up to $750… but it really is worth it. And apparently the more you do it, the longer the results last.
The treatment takes awhile – take a book or a couple of magazines to read. After the product is applied lovingly, section by section, the hair is straightened to seal it in. This is the time consuming part. You leave with poker-straight hair and strict instructions not to do anything to create a kink or a bend including tucking it behind ears, pinning it back or pulling it up. Even big collars can pose a risk. You can’t wet your hair for 48 hours and if you do get caught out it’s best to dry it as quickly as possible. By the time you’re due to wash it out, you’re more than ready. My hair went skanky and lank. But after the wash – AMAZE. So silky, so soft. Like a professional blow wave (which is why it’s nickname is the Brazilian Blowwave).
The KeraStraight treatment contains pure keratin mixed with 22 carat gold. Not sure what the gold does but the Keratin fills in the cracks in the hair, making it smooth.
You’re advised to use the specific KeraStraight shampoo and conditioner. I asked Jeanette why this is so and she said it’s because the shampoo does not contain sodium chloride which is a salt, salt disolves keratin, therefore would disolve your treatment quite quickly. The conditioner helps with the smoothing effect. Each service has a recommended product to help with performance and longevity, Kerastraight is just the same, we are unable to guarantee the treatment if the homecare is not used.
Fortunately this has not happened – a month later and I still have salon perfect hair. I’m impressed!
