Stylish Online
December 1, 2011
Meet Lisa Williams-Meyrick of Stylish.co.nz the newest online shop offering stylish options for fashion, beauty and home. What inspired you to start Stylish?Online shopping in NZ seems to be still in its infancy. Individual brands and labels were offering their products online, however there did not seem to be one place where you can be introduced to lots of fabulous brands across different catagories. Stylish brings a great range of gorgeous products and labels all to one place for your shopping pleasure. What were you doing before?I previously founded Marketing & Graphic Design company EBD (Exposure by Design) now part of the Publically listed Forge Media Group. I sold EBD four years ago and have had time out with my family since. What does style mean to you?Style is effortless, your own personal taste, carried out in confidence – whether it’s your clothing, accessories, home or food. I think an element of creativity and originality comes into it too.How would you describe your style? My style would most definitely be a bit on the glamorous side – I’ve tried to be edgy once or twice over the years, but sadly failed miserably. My style is also thrown together pretty quickly with two kids – time is not plentiful. Something I do know is that quality beats quantity! A few very special, gorgeous things will see you most occasions. A representation of my Style is probably what you see on Stylish – the Dream has evolved from the things that I love and It’s great to be working daily with products and brands that I adore – it doesn’t really feel like work! What do you place more emphasis on: fashion, beauty or home? Why?I would definitely call myself a bit of an all-rounder – I love fashion and can often be found hanging out in my wardrobe – just playing! That’s lovely down time for me. I love our home, we live in the country so our taste is pretty relaxed, we love entertaining, especially outdoors. And a beauty regime is essential, starting with great skin care, then hair & make up – feeling good about how you look can really change your day.Last purchase? My gorgeous Saben Miller bag – goes with everything, holds loads & is, of course Stylish. I’ve also just bought the Chaos & Harmony Sally Stone shoes – they are simply stunning – Comfortable, but quite high. Very nearly broke my ankle carrying my wee girl, my husband thinks i’m ridiculous – he’s obviously got no idea! What’s on your wish-list for Summer?Ooooh I’m loving Brady as a brand. Definitely need some Charlie Brown Maxi dresses for those summer BBQ’s – some good sunblock, Holsters latest Princess stud Jelly in Gold – and have you seen Cushla Reid’s Feather Shoe – OMG! (If only she had my size!)When it comes to makeup are you a beauty fiend or fairly low-fuss?Arguably low fuss, although if you saw my make up draw you may disagree – I love make up.What’s your daily makeup routine?Pretty straightforward really- Art a Face moisturiser (feels like silk with SPF 15), Lancome foundation, The Balm bronzer and Mac blusher, The Balm Two Timer Mascara, a splash of Mac Mineralise eye shadow, bit of Karen Murrell’s gorgeous lippie and I’m off.How do you change this for night?Darker eye shadow, add in some liquid eye liner, lip gloss and that’s about it….What’s your skincare regime like and how has this changed over the years? My skin care regime has changed since having kids, I went through some hormonal ugly spots which required a bit of Pro-active (I KNOW! have always thought Katy Perry & I were quite similar…) – that seemed to work for a short time, now I am a huge fan of Art a Face, it’s all natural and my skin has never been better. I use their daily All Day Protection Moisturiser, Rejuvenating Overnight Cream, their face D-Creaser Line Relaxer (I’m at that age), Moisture Eye Boost, and if my face feels like it really needs a drink I use the Intense Hydrating Mask – pure luxury.Best style/beauty advice you’ve been given/read?Drink lots of water and always aim for at least 8 hours sleep. What would you tell the younger you if you could turn back time? I have very long very straight (unshapely) legs that I spent many years worrying about – I would tell my younger me to get over it, they are fabulous, they’re quite long and for goodness sake – they work!
